Learn Medical Front Office Administration, Billing & Coding, Medical Record Keeping and More

The Online Medical Administrative Assistant / Office Management training program provides the training and education needed to work in a modern medical front office and take the AHIMA and NHA certification examinations. Online classes teach medical billing and coding procedures, working with patient records, managing account receivables, health care insurance claim processing and account billing and collections. Additional topics include how to process workers compensation claims, personal injury, Medicare, and Medi-Cal, and HIPAA, CMS and OSHA regulations and procedures.

The Online Medical Administrative Assistant / Office Management program is divided into ten modules. Students must successfully complete all ten modules in order to complete the program.

Online Program Admission Requirements

  • Command of English language

Graduates of the online program receive a diploma upon successful completion and are eligible to sit for the Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of medical billers, professional coders, and other medical records and health information technicians is expected to grow much faster than average for all occupations, and new job openings are expected to increase between 21% - 26% through 2020.*

Work Environment

Medical records and health information technicians typically work in pleasant and comfortable offices and spend many hours working in front of computer monitors. This is one of the few health-related occupations in which there is no direct hands-on patient care.

Most medical records and health information technicians work full time. In healthcare facilities that are open 24 hours a day, technicians may work evening or overnight shifts. About 15 percent of technicians worked part time in 2010.
